Wish List

I stole this from about 10 people on my flist.

STEP ONE

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered... whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Harry icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO

- Surf around your friends list (or friend's friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use -- or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free -- do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf -- to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not -- it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Due South Season 3 & 4 DVDs - I started reading the fic and fell in love with the Fraser/RayK pairing, but was very confused by the difference between what I was reading and my hazy recollection of the show. Then I figured out I only say seasons 1 & 2 so I really want to see the episodes that inspired the great slash.

2. Viggo Mortensen's books

3. A good copy of The Lord of the Rings books or The Chronicles of Narnia

4. More Viggo/Orlando icons

5. Recs for good gay fiction or movies. But nothing depressing. I tend to be haunted by sad stories so please stick with happy ending.

6. A way to rediscover my love for QAF. I can read fic, but I can't watch my DVDs or write at all. I thought I was over the whole ending, but I guess not.

7. If you are a parent, give your children an extra hug especially if they are older. Remember what it was like when they were little like my boys and all you wanted to do was hold them and find a way to protect them from the world. If you are not a parent, give your parents an extra hug because they probably felt the same way about you that I do about my boys even if you can't remember it.

8. Tell me a favorite Christmas memory or a Christmas tradition in your family. Tell me in the comments, post in your journal and link me to it, or write it out and mail it to me.

9. Good, simple vegetarian recipes. No tofu or mushrooms please.

10. Love, joy, health, and success to everyone on my flist. You have no idea how important you all are to me.

I'll be going back to your journals to look for your wishlists, but you could make it easier for me by linking to them here. I enjoyed granting what wishes I could last year and want to do more this year. So let me know what you want.

All his books sound good, but I think Signlanguage would be my first choice since it focuses on his time in New Zealand.

And #6 is a hard one. I'm really shocked how much the ending has sucked the joy out of the rest of the show for me right now. Damn Cowlip.
