Fanfic Author Appreciation Week

I wish I had time to post everyday this week, but I wanted to at least honor two of my favorite authors. There are tons more I love, but these two are special to me, and they have the ridiculously gushing feedback to prove it.

For QAF, there is no one I get more excited about than bigboobedcanuck. I adore everything she writes. Her Twelve Years of Christmas series was amazing. Each year just got better and even when I thought it would be a simple story she'd add that one line that just blew me away. One of her stories for fandom_aid The Bend dealt with Gus being seriously hurt. As soon as I knew that I should have run screaming from the room, but I didn't. She handled what for me is a very sensitive topic with such grace and honesty that it spoke to me about something I never though fanfic could touch. She is just a remarkable writer and from what I can tell from my limited interactions with her a genuinely nice person. I wish we had more people like her left in QAF land.

I swore QAF would be my only fandom, but occasionally I get bored and wander into what I call drive-by fandoms. I find them by accident, spend a day or two reading whatever I can find and them move. That is what I expected when I stumbled upon LOTR RPS, specifically Viggo/Orlando. Then I found jasmineskie, and I was hopelessly hooked. As soon as I read the first story in her Magic Happens series, I knew I had found something special. To this day, that is what I read when I need something to smile about. All her work is breathtaking and I could tell you wonderful things about every story she has written. What continues to impress me about her writing is the way she writes intimacy. Its more than sex and way beyond the emotional limits I usually find in fanfic. She puts these little details in that bring so much more felling to her stories. I believe them completely when I am reading them. My last remaining rule in fanfic was never read mpreg. I broke that for jasmineskie and could be happier about it. Unexpected is a series everyone should read. Forget everything you've ever said about mpreg and let yourself enjoy this. It is a wonderful emotional journey that I would swear to you is real. At least that's how I feel when I'm reading it. Check out her fic index, every story in it is worth reading again and again.
