I am having a minor freak out over the future of our beloved QAF actors. During the day I usually have Noggin (preschool programing) on during the day for the boys. I have become accustomed to seeing some really odd shows. I won't even begin to explain barehanded puppets. Anyway, on to the point. One of the shows on Noggin is Oswald. In short Oswald is an octopus who lives in an apartment and whose friends include Henry the neurotic penguin, Daisy an actual daisy, the egg twins, a snowman etc. I think it is an older Canadian cartoon, but it's not one of my favorites. One day I noticed that during the credits after listing the director, producer, and writers in fairly large writing it said "Voice of Oswald Fred Savage." I remember thinking how sad for poor Fred. Once the fairly popular star of a hit show at some point reduced to being the voice of a piano playing octopus with a dog named Weenie (as in most shows Weenie has no special traits. Just a regular dog).

Today as I listen to Fred sing a particularly painfully bad song about friendship being more important than possessions, I realized this could happen to someone from QAF. In five years will I be watching Noggin and read that the voice of some cartoon character is done by Thea Gill or Peter Paige? God I hope not. I've become rather attached to most of the actors over the years and really hope they have success in their futures.

Ah, but poor little Fred has a pilot that was picked up by ABC, I believe, one of the big three networks and will have a new series in the fall. :-) I hear actors like to do voiceover work because it's easy and pays the bills.

But I know what you're saying about where the actors will be down the line. Most of them are in their mid-late 30's and it's hard to conquer that industry with youth on their side, much less with the disadvantage of having a glut of actors in that same range who are far more successful and known, taking up parts. I have a feeling there will be a lot more theater work. I don't know how Canadian TV works but Thea seems to have done quite a few guest appearances on different shows while still being on QAF, so maybe she won't face as much of a problem in Canada. But someone like Michelle will probably have more of an issue (though that would be partly her fault, as I never felt she was very strong as an actress).

It's actually Scott who concerns me most, just because I can't think of anything he's done while still on QAF over hiatuses and such.
