I should have done this a long time ago, but I'm pretty sure everyone on my flist already knows about this. On the off chance you haven't checked out [livejournal.com profile] fandom_aid, please do so right now. You can still sign up to contribute through today. And I think the request sign up is open through friday. So if you have something to give or if there is a fic or icon you've been dying to see, head over and sign up!
I almost never do these things, but I asked my darling [livejournal.com profile] elimandjulian 4 questions so I felt morally obligated to post this. Feel free to ignore.

Meme )
I should preface this by explaining that I am home with my sons all day. I do work out of my house, but I only go back to my office if they are both sleeping or someone else is there to watch them. As a result I end up looking for things to watch at odd times where there is nothing on.

I have a few basic rules of television watching:

1) No reality television ever. This is nonnegotiable.

2) Never watch potentially depression movies or shows unless I know what the ending is. I regret every time I break this rule.

3) If the following movies are on I always watch them even if they've already been on for an hour: Any Lord of the Rings, Dirty Dancing, Four Weddings and a Funeral, About a Boy, Billy Elliot

4) Never watch shows about something I know a lot about.

What Happened When I Broke Rule #4 )
I've said before I have a hard time resisting a challenge. The Moon Shadow Tribe Christmas challenge was to write a story based in some way on a Christmas movie or special. You can read all the stories here Christmas Stories.

I discovered I don't know many Christmas movies. The only idea I could come up with was too close to a Christmas story I wrote two years ago. Then I saw Love Actually and was able to get a few ideas. Here is my contribution.

Understanding in the Snow )
I almost never post anything here except stories, but I got a DVD I love so much I have to share!

The Tank The Swan And The Balloon )
If I have any closet LOTR RPS readers on my flist, I lost my mind completely and written a Viggo/Orlando story. Since I'm even crazy than I thought, I'm posting it here. For all you B/J only people just skip this entry.

Wide Awake But Still Dreaming )
I wasn't going to do this for a lot of reasons, but I've been really intrigued by the idea of figuring out ten things that would truly make me happy. So here goes.

The rules

Step One

- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

My List )
So there is a meme going around where people post the first lines of songs and then you write drabbles based on them. I ended up being inspired by a line in [livejournal.com profile] burnitbackwards's journal. It ended up being a bit long to be considered a drabble, but at least I was able to write something. It's Brian and Justin o course, but written from Hunter's POV. Don't ask because I have no explanation for that.

Drabble )
Well the authors have been revealed so I am posting my fic here. As far as I know, no one guessed it correctly. I haven't decided if I'm surprised or not.

Title: Wear No Disguise For Me
Summary: Brian and Justin go on vacation, obviously. Set a few years in the future.
Warnings: none
Rating: NC-17
Spoilers: References through season 4
Notes: I wrote this before the season finale and made one small change to be consistent with that episode.
Credit: As usual, I stole the title from an Erasure song. This one came from the wonderful song Always.

A huge thank you to my wonderful beta Philiflam!

Wear No Disguise For Me )
This one is a little different. Margaret set this up over at Moonshadow Tribe. There are nine stories posted all dealing with Brian and Justin going on vacation. There is also a list of participating authors, but they are not matched with the stories. The challenge is for readers to guess who wrote what story.

I'm clueless as to who wrote what except for mine of course. So, check them out and see if you can figure which story I wrote. Leave me a comment with your guess and why you think it's my story. I am really curious to see how obvious my writing is. Once the authors have been revealed, I'll post my story here, and you can see if you were right. Follow the link below and enjoy!

Summer Vacation Stories
Well, it only took me three months, but I finally finished my fic for [livejournal.com profile] rhiannonhero's Summer Title Challenge. I did make it before the first snow! My title is Sun Meltdown. For some reason I was inspired to write a rather odd conversation piece. There's no plot and really no point, just Brian and Justin talking. I was trying for the kind of meandering conversations you have with someone you know really well and are comfortable with. I'm not sure it worked.

I have to say for me it odd to have a title picked for me. Titles are very important to me and I never write without them. Sometimes the title is the entire inspiration for the fic and sometimes it just helps me refine an idea I'm already playing with. If you've noticed, all my titles are song lyrics. Most of the time, the way the line is sung and the music are as important to me as the actual words. This is the first time I haven't had that reference to work with.

Old Stories

Aug. 5th, 2004 10:29 am
Thanks to the kind and very talented Margaret, all my stories are now in one place. So if you are curious as to what I wrote before I started using this journal check out Moonshadow Tribe. All my previous stories are there as well as the new ones, including JUDAS the series I have a serious love/hate relationship with!

Just a warning, with the exception of Love is Blindness, the old stories were written between seasons 2 and 3 and are unbetaed. So there is some context there and some mistakes.
This was written for the Hump Day Challenge over at [livejournal.com profile] bagfulloftricks. Which is a very cool place if you haven't been there.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I went to a Barenaked Ladies concert. On a side note, even if you are just a casual fan and you have a chance to see them live GO. They are amazing in concert. Seeing them live turned my husband from thinking they were some weird band my wife likes to be a huge fan. Seriously, two years ago we saw them twice in one week and would have done it this year if it wasn't so hard to get babysitters. Anyway, back to the part that's relevant to the fic. First we sat through the worst opening act in history. Worse than the scary band who screamed unintelligible things and may or may not have been skinheads and their twelve equally frightening fans. Worse than the untalented chick who decided to compensate by wearing odd bondage like 80's lingerie and strutting around the stage despite the fact that she was opening for Erasure which meant including my husband their may have been seven straight men in the audience. We get this woman who does that singing/talking/shouting thing while banging aimlessly on a keyboard. I think she was supposed to be edgy and political, but she just sucked. This year the Barenaked Ladies are co-headlining with Alanis Morissette. At our concert she performed first. We are not fans so despite the fact that I think she did a wonderful job, we were quite bored. Towards the end of her set, she sang "Everything" which I think was her new single, and when she got to the chorus all I could that is that is was so Brian and Justin. So I spent the rest of the time until the Barenaked Ladies came on mentally writing fic. It never would have seen the light of day except this challenge came along, and it was the last idea stuck in my head.

Summary: Post 410 ficlet
Spoilers: References to anything up to 410
Warnings: None

Thank you to my wonderful bete philiflam for doing this on short notice!

New Ficlet

Apr. 30th, 2004 09:18 am
Short little story that has basically no plot or point. I started obsessing over a line from a song and this is what happened.

Summary: Why Brian doesn’t dream
Spoilers: Reference to future Season 4 plot. Nothing specific, but avoid if you are completely spoiler free
Warnings: None

Thank you to Philflam for very helpful beta!

Notes: Title and inspiration taken from the haunting Barenaked Ladies song War on Drugs. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

In the Dream I Refuse to Have )
So I'm turning 30 tomorrow. Unlike Brian and Michael, I don't really have any issues with being 30. Well except, I want more children and I always swore I'd be done having kids by the time I was 30. Damn the gods of infertility. But otherwise I don't mind getting older. I am, however, a bit freaked out about my birthday. Last year some very horrible things happened and were set in motion. Everything eventually worked out OK, but I can't help dwelling on how I felt then.

New Fic

Apr. 9th, 2004 11:06 am
Well, I finally managed to finish a story. Nothing too exciting, but feel free to read. It's Brian and Justin, of course.

Summary: Brian's POV. Justin is thinking about making some changes in his life. How will Brian react?
Spoilers: None, it is post 314, but all references to the future are made up.
Warnings: None

Thank you to Philflam for the quick and wonderful beta!

Concede )

This fic was inspired by my obsession with the Barenaked Ladies song For You. Every time I heard it, I thought about how it applied to Brian and Justin. Hopefully I can listen to it in peace now. Because I do think it reflects some interestung aspects of their relationship, I'm posting the lyrics. You may want to skip the fic all together and just read them. Think about them in terms of Brian and what the implication for Justin are.

FOR YOU )

Someone sent this to me as part of a religious email (don't ask).  But do I think of prayer?  NO.  All I can picture is Brian in the backroom and Emmett in the naked maid episode.

"The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor."

QAF has warped me for life.

Hello

Mar. 13th, 2004 11:16 am
I've been thinking about actually using this thing mainly because I've been in the mood to write something. I found this meme at [livejournal.com profile] teisfortiger page, and decided to start my journal by telling you way more about myself than you'll ever care to know.

Meme about me )

So there you have it. Way more than you ever wanted to know about me. I have no I idea how often I'll post, but this is a start.
