So I'm still working toward my peace with the end of QAF. To that end I have decided that if Morrissey can forgive Jesus, I can forgive Cowlip. This is my version of his song "I Have Forgiven Jesus."

I'm sure that anyone who's ever posted fanfiction to Livejournal will know just how great it feels to read comments from other users (and how depressing it can be if no one comments). I also know that I don't review other people's fanfiction half as much as I really ought to. So to make up for that, on Sunday I'm going to try and post a review for every piece of fanfiction I read on Livejournal (and I plan to read a lot). Why not do the same, and let other writers know their efforts are worth it?

Writers, why not take the opportunity to re-post a story you think slipped under people's radars the first time around?

There are some stories I've been promising myself I'd send feedback for for at least a month. Tomorrow I will try to catch up.

I am in fic heaven! If you are a Viggo/Orlando fan and for some insane reason, you haven't been to anglicandoorway go there right now. I am just in awe. jenlynn820 organized the most amazing fic-a-thon. 65 fics over 5 days! There are still a few left to go, and I have loved every minute of it. Now that it's almost over perhaps my poor children will get fed on time and my house will begin to resemble clean.

This is my contribution. It pales in comparision to the wonderful stories I've been reading, but I did my best.

No, you are not imagining things. I actually managed to write something. I don't think anyone noticed the lack of fic because I don't write that much, but I have had the worst writer's block lately. What has been especially frustrating is that I don't lack ideas. I just can't seem to get the words from my head to the computer. So I am extremely pleased to have finished something. That being said, this is not exactly a masterpiece. I know I'll regret not having it betaed, but I couldn't bring myself to bother her with this. This is a future story, but there are NO SPOILERS! I promise. Moonshadow Tribe was having a fluff challenge and this is my contribution. I'm not sure how good I am at fluff (I've never been sure exactly how to define fluff), but I had an idea and I forced myself to finish it. Please let me know what you think especially if you don't hate it.

I am having a minor freak out over the future of our beloved QAF actors. During the day I usually have Noggin (preschool programing) on during the day for the boys. I have become accustomed to seeing some really odd shows. I won't even begin to explain barehanded puppets. Anyway, on to the point. One of the shows on Noggin is Oswald. In short Oswald is an octopus who lives in an apartment and whose friends include Henry the neurotic penguin, Daisy an actual daisy, the egg twins, a snowman etc. I think it is an older Canadian cartoon, but it's not one of my favorites. One day I noticed that during the credits after listing the director, producer, and writers in fairly large writing it said "Voice of Oswald Fred Savage." I remember thinking how sad for poor Fred. Once the fairly popular star of a hit show at some point reduced to being the voice of a piano playing octopus with a dog named Weenie (as in most shows Weenie has no special traits. Just a regular dog).

Today as I listen to Fred sing a particularly painfully bad song about friendship being more important than possessions, I realized this could happen to someone from QAF. In five years will I be watching Noggin and read that the voice of some cartoon character is done by Thea Gill or Peter Paige? God I hope not. I've become rather attached to most of the actors over the years and really hope they have success in their futures.

Despite the fact that I run screaming in the opposite direction whenever I see the words Mpreg, there is no story I love as much as jasmineskie's Unexpected. I never thought reading reading slash would help me come to terms with my own experience in becoming a mother, but this story has. I feel such a strange kinship to the characters as she has written them. And I finally got to the chapter I have been dying for - baby bonding! While it was nothing like my own experience, it did get me thinking.

fandom_aid is one of the best things I have ever come across on LJ. bigboobedcanuck and queenofthorns did an absolutely amazing job. I was so excited to read all the wonderful fics, and I had two fabulous videos made for me. Needless to say I donated to a few charities. I also got a bit caught up in the whole thing and wrote four fics. I feel a little bad about contributing because I don't think I was the type of writer they were looking for, but as I said I got got up in the moment. Regardless, I am posting my contributions. These first two stories go together so I am putting them in the same post.

( Slipping Below The Water-Line )

I wish I had time to post everyday this week, but I wanted to at least honor two of my favorite authors. There are tons more I love, but these two are special to me, and they have the ridiculously gushing feedback to prove it.

For QAF, there is no one I get more excited about than bigboobedcanuck. I adore everything she writes. Her Twelve Years of Christmas series was amazing. Each year just got better and even when I thought it would be a simple story she'd add that one line that just blew me away. One of her stories for fandom_aid The Bend dealt with Gus being seriously hurt. As soon as I knew that I should have run screaming from the room, but I didn't. She handled what for me is a very sensitive topic with such grace and honesty that it spoke to me about something I never though fanfic could touch. She is just a remarkable writer and from what I can tell from my limited interactions with her a genuinely nice person. I wish we had more people like her left in QAF land.

I swore QAF would be my only fandom, but occasionally I get bored and wander into what I call drive-by fandoms. I find them by accident, spend a day or two reading whatever I can find and them move. That is what I expected when I stumbled upon LOTR RPS, specifically Viggo/Orlando. Then I found jasmineskie, and I was hopelessly hooked. As soon as I read the first story in her Magic Happens series, I knew I had found something special. To this day, that is what I read when I need something to smile about. All her work is breathtaking and I could tell you wonderful things about every story she has written. What continues to impress me about her writing is the way she writes intimacy. Its more than sex and way beyond the emotional limits I usually find in fanfic. She puts these little details in that bring so much more felling to her stories. I believe them completely when I am reading them. My last remaining rule in fanfic was never read mpreg. I broke that for jasmineskie and could be happier about it. Unexpected is a series everyone should read. Forget everything you've ever said about mpreg and let yourself enjoy this. It is a wonderful emotional journey that I would swear to you is real. At least that's how I feel when I'm reading it. Check out her fic index, every story in it is worth reading again and again.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but their was a brief description of Season 5 in the new Entertainment Weekly. In case anyone's interested,
