Story Thoughts )
I ended up writing 4 stories for the latest challenge at IJ. If you have not checked out the challenge, go right now. There are 41 stories inspired by 24 banners. The quality of both the art and writing is amazing. A maseterlist of art and stories can be found HERE

The moral of this story is if you are ever running some kind of writing fest, exchange, or challenge and need writers at the last minute, I will say yes. Depending on your opinion of my writing this is a good or bad thing. I cannot resist the urge to help. I've been a backup writer multiple times and a few years ago, wrote a femslash story even though I don't read femslash because someone on my flist needed writers.

So I don't clog up your flist, I'm going to post one story a day. This is the first one I wrote. I'll probably post them in the order I wrote them so you can track the erosion of my writing abilities.

Title: Son and Heir
Fandom and Pairing: QAF Brian/Justin
Timeline: Several years post 513
Rating: NC-17
Warning: Minor character death (Craig)
Author’s Notes: Thank you [livejournal.com profile] vl_redreign for doing a wonderful job betaing this story. Any remaining mistakes are the result of my endless tinkering. Title is from “How Soon Is Now” by The Smiths.
Graphic: This story was inspired by the wonderful graphic by [livejournal.com profile] badbadpixie. Not only is she incredibly talented, but she is also very generous and kind. She made a personalized version of the graphic for me to use. Thank you!

Ramblings about the story )
Happy Birthday to the wonderful, talented, and sweet [livejournal.com profile] foreverbm!!
Enjoy your day, you deserve the best. I left you a present over at IJ.
I wanted to write a Hunter drabble for [livejournal.com profile] flashfly and somehow ended up with almost 3000 words of gen Hunter centric ensemble fic. There’s no Lupe, but PSA!Justin does make a cameo apparence. I hope you like it.

Earth Day

Apr. 26th, 2008 12:28 pm
At my journal it's still Earth Day since I spent most of Earth Day in the hospital with Aidan. I found two links I want to pass on to all of you.

The first is a contest where you pledge to do small things to go green from a list an you are entered to win prizes including a great Burt's Bees gift pack. I'm not sure if it is open to non-US residents or not.

The second allows you to sign up for earth friendly tips emailed to you Monday-Friday. They are simple and humorous and link you to other resources.

http://www.idealbite.com/

Take a few minutes to check them out and help make everyday Earth Day!
I wrote 4 unrelated drabbles for the Friendship theme at the InsaneJournal drabble community.

Here is a short Emmett ficlet I wrote for a community I want to pimp. [livejournal.com profile] writing_readers is a wonderful community that is open to new members through the end of March. Normally membership is closed so authors can post works they plan to submit for publication for feedback. The community description explains it better than I can:
We are readers looking for good writers.

We are writers looking for good readers.

Writers and Readers is a community for just that - writers and readers. It exists solely as an attempt to bring together people who love to read good fiction with people who love to write it.

The community info page has more information and basic rules. Like many small communities it goes through periods of inactivity. We are emerging from a lull now and are looking for new members.
It is a wonderful place for both writers and those who like to be more active readers. There are normally weekly challenges which is where this ficlet came from.
There are expectations of participation so it is not a community for lurkers. It is not fandom specific and most people post original fiction. There had been a lot of fantasy stories for those who enjoy that genre. However, most of the original members came from LOTR RPF fandoms, and those characters to appear frequently in the stories. If you are completely opposed or freaked out by RPF this is not a community for you.
If you are interested, please check the community out and consider joining. I’d love to see more of my flist there!
And now for the story. Since it was written for a writing exercise, it is untitled and unbetaed.

There was an Anti-Valentine's Day challenge over on Insane Journal and this was my entry.

Title: Picture Perfect
Fandom & Pairing: QAF Brian/Justin
Summary: It was the most romantic day of all time and Brian had a plan.
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: None
Beta: [livejournal.com profile] tweedygal Thank you so much!
Picture Perfect )
Last night my mother and I went to a local screening of For the Bible Tells Me So. What a wonderful film. I think it handled a sensitive topic very well-with knowledge, heart, and humor. I learned a lot about religion and how they use the Bible for oppression and hate. I feel much more informed now, but also angry. What made this film standout to me was the intersection of a very intellectual discussion of religion with incredibly personal stories of religious families dealing with homosexuality. The personal stories were inspiring and heartbreaking. If you have a chance to see this film, please do so. If you've already seen it, please let me know what you thought.

Thank You!

Happy Valentine's Day to my wonderful flist! All of you make my life better in some way. It might be your friendship, your stories, or just the fact that I know I am not alone in my various fandom obsessions. Each one of you is special to me regardless of if we know each other personally or if I just lurk around your journal. Thank you for everything!

Help!

Feb. 12th, 2008 01:31 pm
Since it's due in less than 24 hours, I am just going to put up a general plea for assistance. Is anyone available to do a quick beta on my Anti-Valentine's Day fic? It's just over 2000 words and has a very simple plot. Leave a comment here or email me if you can help. First one brave enough to volunteer wins (if you can call it that). Thank you!

ETA: I found someone. Thanks!
I recently started reading more fiction so I was thinking about joining [livejournal.com profile] 50bookchallenge, but I realized the chances of me posting to ir reading entries in a community of people who don't share at least one fannish interest with me was pretty slim. So I joined [livejournal.com profile] flashfly's short story community [livejournal.com profile] classicshorts instead. However, since I like the idea of tracking my reading I will be posting here as though I were doing the official 50 book challenge. Lucky you flist! At this point I am primarily reading what I call serial killer books although I suppose the better genre would be suspense or thriller.

Books 1-6 and 1 I had to give up on )

Feel free to rec me any books you think I might like!
I have a beautiful header thanks to the extremely talented [livejournal.com profile] sra_black and some technical assistance from [livejournal.com profile] sanami276!

Finally, my journal is pretty. I have no talent artistically or technically so I've always had a plain journal. But I decided to ask for a header for the [livejournal.com profile] qaf_giftxchnge. I was thrilled with the amazing choices [livejournal.com profile] sra_black made for me, and picking one was very difficult. I actually managed to get the header up on my own (trust me that was a feet), but I didn't quite get it right and [livejournal.com profile] sanami276 had been kind enough to offer me assistance. With her help, the problem was corrected and now I get to gaze upon the beauty that is Brian and Justin! Thanks again ladies.
This is the second story I wrote for a Holiday Exchange. I have to say I am already overwhelmed by the response I have received. Without Brian and Justin as the pairing, I didn’t expect anyone other than [livejournal.com profile] flashfly (and poor [livejournal.com profile] shadownyc who I begged to beta for me) to read it. So thank you so much to everyone who has given this story a chance. It has become very special to me.

Tittle: All’amor Mio T’affida
[livejournal.com profile] qaf_giftxchnge Story for [livejournal.com profile] flashfly who requested Pairing/character/theme/focus: any though a rair pairing would be fabulous - Ted? Hunter?
Fandom and Pairing: QAF Ted/Blake with a little Emmett/Drew
Summary: Not every opera is a tragedy
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: None
Timeline: A few years after 513
Notes: Title translates to “Trust in my love” as translated from Verdi’s Aida. Huge thanks are owed to [livejournal.com profile] shadownyc for doing an extremely last minute beta job for me. Any remaining mistakes are mine alone.

All’amor Mio T’affia )
This is the first of three stories I wrote for Holiday Gift Exchanges. I apologize ahead of time for massive cross posting.

Title: I Could Fall In Love With You
Fandom and Pairing: LOTR RPF Viggo/Orlando
[livejournal.com profile] vo_xmas Gift For: [livejournal.com profile] ancabell who requested would like to get a fic in which Viggo and Orli are only friends (at least until the end), very realistic, and I want the end to be surprising! I don’t like PWP, and really schmoopy stuff (baby, angel and the like...)
Summary: Orlando had always believed in love at first sight. At least until it took him eight years to fall in love with Viggo.
Rating: PG-13 for language
Warnings: None
Notes: Thank you to my amazing beta [livejournal.com profile] phnx_rising. Title is taken from the Erasure song of the same name.

I Could Fall In Love With You )
I am trying to be a little more organized this year (we'll see) so it's time to collect addresses. If you would like a card please comment with you name and address. Also let me know what type of card you would like- any holiday through New Year's or general season is fine. All comments will be screened. I am not using any old lists so even if I've sent you a card before please comment again for this year.

I enjoy sending cards so please feel free to ask for one.
