Tapestry is my final entry for the Clusterf#ck Challenge. This fic took over my life for a while. I spent a lot of time planning it and trying to decide if I could make it work. Than in my typical style, I wrote it at the last minute so I'm not sure it worked as well as it could have. Some of the people who left feedback for it, were kind enough to say it read like an episode. That was my goal so I'm thrilled to know I didn't completely miss the mark. I wrote this fic for people like me who in addition to missing Brian and Justin, miss Queer as Folk. I tried to think of stories that were true to each character, but also had some themes in common. Thank you so much to xie_xie_xie, notreallyme10, testdog65, and fansee for coming up with a fabulous challenge that allowed me to experiment with this type of story. I hope you enjoy it!

The next set of drabbles are a response to a prompt that ask for drabbles to be inspired by an icon. The first drabble I choose the icon, but the rest were given to me as prompts by members of my flist. When possible I have credited the icon maker.

The final set of drabbles was written for noteverything. She asked me for angst, and she got it. There are not specific warnings, and I didn’t kill anyone, but these are not happy drabbles by any stretch of the imagination. If you are having a bad day, you may want to skip them.

Challenge #91: Blue Lights
Piece of Home

Justin’s dreams are tinged with blue. It is the color of discovery, of hope and healing, and of sadness. His favorite memories are drenched in blue. So are some of his worst, but that makes the others all the sweeter. He wakes up every morning half expecting Brian to be sleeping next to him bathed in blue light.

When Justin finally gets his own apartment, he takes the old blue lights out of storage and mounts them above his bed. He knows Brian will probably laugh and tell him he’s ridiculously sentimental, but he doesn’t care. They feel like home.

“Justin, does your dad hate you because you’re gay?”

Justin looked at Gus sharply, wondering where this was coming from. “My dad hates me because I’m not the man he wanted me to be. Being gay is part of that. Why?”

“I need to tell Dad something, and I’m not sure what he’ll say,” Gus bit his thumbnail, looking so much younger than fifteen.

“He knows you’re straight, Gus,” Justin said gently.

“Really?” Gus sounded surprised and relieved.

“Brian just wants you to be happy. We both do,” Justin reassured him. “He could never hate you,” which was perfectly true.

“i like my body when it is with your body,” Ben whispered one night.

“I like your body too,” Michael said with a laugh.

Ben shook his head, “No, listen.” He turned toward Michael, holding his gaze. Stroking his chest, his hips, finally his cock, but never looking away from Michael’s eyes, Ben continued.

“i like your body, i like what it does, i like its hows. i like to feel the spine of your body and its bones, and the trembling-firm-smooth ness and which I will again and again and again kiss”

Michael quivered under Ben’s hand and heard.

Challenge #16: In the Diner
The More Things Change

The booths were purple now, but the menu hadn’t changed. The customers were still rude, and the tips still sucked. But the shifts felt longer, and the trays were harder to lift. Carl was after her to retire again, and the unfamiliar faces in the post-Babylon crowd made retirement look good.

But then a scared young boy would come in, and Debbie thought of Sunshine and Jason Kemp. So she did what she did best. She made him laugh and gave him a hot meal on the house. Then she hoped he’d come again, ready to listen to her advice.

“I know I’m running late, but Hunter left his wallet at the shop, and I had to run all the way to. . .” Michael’s voice trailed off when he reached the bedroom. He came to a dead stop in the doorway and simply stared, mouth hanging open.

Captain Astro was stretched out on the bed, Ben’s beautiful blue eyes looking out from behind the mask.

“Happy Halloween, Michael. Would you like a demonstration of my super powers?”

“Hell, yes!” Michael leaped onto the bed, a huge smile lighting up his face.

They never made it to Babylon’s Costume Night.
